How PHIERS handles your information

This page explains what the Civic Action Center collects, why, and the choices you control. PHIERS does not sell your personal information, and we will not publicly identify you without your separate, explicit consent.

What we collect

When you take an action, we collect only what that action needs: your name (when you provide it), your email address, your ZIP code, your survey or petition answers, and basic technical details such as how you reached the page. You choose what to enter.

Why we use it (specific purposes only)

We use your information only for the specific purposes you authorize, which may include:

  • Recording your survey direction, petition support, or covenant response.
  • Using your ZIP code to look up your congressional district so responses can be organized by district. Some ZIP codes cross district lines, so a ZIP may not identify a district on its own — we never guess.
  • Confirming your email before a response is counted, and, if you asked, sending you the updates you requested.

We do not add you to unrelated lists, and one permission never enrolls you in another.

Consent is separate for each thing

Answering questions, adding your name, and asking to be notified are separate, explicit steps. Each notification topic has its own unchecked box, and checking one never opts you into another. You can grant one without granting the others.

Private-by-default reporting

Public reporting is aggregate or deidentified unless you separately consent to be identified. We will not publish your name attached to your response without that separate permission.

Service providers

We use trusted third-party providers to operate the site and to send email (for example, hosting and email-delivery services). They process information only to provide those services to PHIERS and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. We do not sell your information to anyone.

How long we keep it

We keep your response for as long as needed to keep a record of what you told the House and the action you took, and to meet legitimate record-keeping needs. You can ask us to correct or delete your record at any time (see below).

Correcting or deleting your record

You can ask us to see, correct, or delete the information tied to your email. Email us and we will act on your request. To withdraw a notification, reply STOP to any notification or email us — you can withdraw any single topic without affecting the others.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information. No online service can promise perfect security, so we do not guarantee it — but we work to limit what we collect and to protect what we hold.
